Jessica & Adam’s Day…..A Wedding Surrounded by History!

The break of day started calm and beautiful, the sun just casting its rays over Merevale Hall in the distance. The view from Abbey Farm B&B was stunning with the horses idling and herons trying to catch an early fish in Abbey pool.
The morning was busy, full of wedding preparations.

Makeup, hair, brides and bridesmaid’s dresses and lots of photos were all attended to, before the beautiful Bride Jessica left for Grendon church in a Rolls Royce Phantom. The village of Grendon was mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1084 and was only a few miles from the venue.
The ceremony took place at All Saints Church, Grendon, which has origins from the 12th century. The weather was wonderfully warm whilst family and friends threw confetti as the Bride and Groom drove away in a fabulously decorated vintage MG.

In the gardens of Abbey Farm are the ruins of the original Abbey built in 1148. It is said that Henry VII stayed there before the battle of Bosworth. The marquee was erected around these historic walls creating a beautiful and elegant interior for the reception which became magical when lit up at night. The wedding breakfast was a delicious posh version of a ploughman’s lunch served in striking picnic baskets, every detail had been thought through.

The reception was relaxed with areas of seating in the garden, overlooking the pool and Merevale Hall; A coconut shy and trampoline were there to entertain adults and children alike. The evening was kick started by an excellent live band and a hog roast, with guests later sitting around fire pits chatting late into the evening. What a fabulous and memorable day!
