Summer rain!
As I sit here writing, it’s raining……We have just had the hottest day on record pass us by but today it’s raining. So, I have found some time to write, as I am cooped up, and let you know what I’ve been up to.
Well, I have been busy, as always, working on my; furniture renovations, teaching workshops, working as a designer, and being a mum. I am particularly proud of my washstand renovation which took a long time to renovate. It needed a lot of gluing to its joints, sanding and filling, a new draw base, oiling, tiling, and grouting before two coats of paint and finally waxing! However, after my labour of love I am really happy with the final outcome, I will actually find it hard to part with!
I have recently been running a weaving workshop creating work for a display about George Eliot the writer. We have been looking at the ribbon weaving industry in Nuneaton and the surrounding area as well as creating something colourful for what would have been her birthday. It will be on display in September.
I also have been and seen some great local exhibitions recently, spent time in London Greenwich and I spend a wonderful day at Perry Green the home of Henry Moore. I was taken on a surprise day trip by someone special and had the most fabulous day. His work was amazing and I came away totally recharged and inspired. Now I’m looking forward to taking a well-deserved break away for the summer, before September arrives and it becomes all work again.
